Here is a 38″ mini cow in the milking process. She stands on a riser. So those thinking they want a” Micro mini ” jersey. They are almost impossible to milk with a machine. Also a cow that produces 3 to 4 gallons of milk is not all that fun to hand milk..

I wanted to share this with potential buyers/Newbies/Wannabes. I had a person interested in buying a mini Jersey. They said it had to be in the 36″ to 38″ height range. Ok… Well they obviously have never tried to milk a 36″ cow with a machine let alone hand milk.. It’s not all that fun. If they just intend to let the cow raise a calf. Thats a little different. But if thats the case then why not get a beef cow… A young cow that size is not to bad to milk but usually their teats are quite short. Thats no fun either. As the cow ages her udder will grow and hang a little lower. Even harder to milk and some calves will have issue trying to nurse without assistance. I have learn over the years that a 43″or 44″ cow is much more desirable when it comes to milking… JMO…
